The Unburdened Board

Lore

Forged by a guild of wartime provisioners who watched armies starve not from scarcity but from waste, this table was hammered into being from reclaimed siege-engine steel, its surface quenched in the runoff of a thousand mess fires. It passed from garrison to monastery to great hall over centuries, always sought out by those who had learned, at great cost, to honor what they had.

Effect

Any food prepared and served upon this table is consumed with absolute completeness — no bones are left, no rinds discarded, no dregs poured out; every meal yields exactly what it contains, with nothing lost to spillage, spoilage, or careless portion.

Appearance

A long, broad table of burnished steel, its surface worn to a soft pewter sheen at the edges where countless hands have gripped and pulled at benches over decades, the center plane still holding a faint blue-grey mirror finish unmarked by cut or stain. The legs are thick squared columns of the same steel, riveted at the joints with oversized bolts whose flat heads are stamped with a simple motif of a bowl with no shadow beneath it — the old provisioner's mark for nothing given to the ground.
