The Famished Tusk

Lore

Carved from the tusk of a god-elephant slaughtered in the wars of the Pale Meridian, this gun blade was hollowed by a sect of drain-priests who believed hunger itself was the purest form of prayer. It passed through seventeen hands before anyone noticed that none of its previous owners had died of violence — only of a slow, inexplicable exhaustion.

Effect

On each successful strike, the blade drinks a measure of the victim's essence — mana, stamina, or will — pulling it through the wound and delivering it as a warm, flooding surge directly into the wielder's body.

Appearance

The blade is a long, single-edged ivory sweep, yellowed faintly toward its spine and carved along its flat with a continuous procession of open-mouthed animal faces, each one smaller than the last, as though something is being swallowed in sequence down toward the tip. The grip is a dense cylinder of the same ivory, wrapped in overlapping bands of dried pale sinew that have shrunk tight with age, and at its center — where the firing mechanism is married seamlessly into the crossguard — a hollow glass chamber sits visible and empty, clouding faintly with a gray vapor only when blood has recently been drawn.
