The Molting Judgment
Lore
Forged from the shed carapace of a colossal mantis-creature that haunted the Ashfen Marshes for three centuries, the halberd was assembled by a blind oracle who believed that death, when inevitable, should at least be honest. She gifted it to no one — it passed instead from battlefield to battlefield by finding its way into the hands of those already marked by fate.
Effect
When the wielder drives the butt-spike into the ground and speaks a target's name aloud, a segmented sigil blooms across the target's skin like a scar remembering itself — and within the next several heartbeats, one strike against them will land with the full, unavoidable weight of destiny.
Appearance
The halberd stands taller than most men, its shaft wrapped in overlapping chitin segments filed smooth along the grip but left raw and ridged above, the amber-brown plating shifting subtly between ochre and near-black depending on the angle of light, like the wing-case of a beetle caught mid-iridescence. The axe-blade and spear-tip are fused from a single curved shard of carapace, ground to a translucent edge where the material thins, with a faint phosphorescent vein of pale green light threading through its interior that brightens and pulses slowly when the fate-sigil has been spoken.
